A Little Bit of Fit Students will work as a team to become stronger and healthy runners. We will be positive examples to others as we work hard and encourage each other to do our very best.
Art Club Students will focus on sharpening the saw and use art as a way to relax. First, we discover and identify an artist and the technique that he or she uses in their pieces of work. Next, students begin with the end in mind by creating a plan to create a piece of art using the technique we discovered. Afterwards, synergize to create a list of important moments from the hour.
Brain Things Students will synergize to solve logic puzzles. We begin with the end in mind and then work together to succeed!
Book Club Students will meet with other friends to learn about different authors. The students learn that most authors and illustrators have to synergize with each other in order to publish their book. The Book Club students will Sharpen their Saw by reading and discussing various books together. The students have discussions, they do arts and crafts and different activities based on the books and students even get to go on web-based field trips.
Cooking Club We use the 7 Habits every enrichment period when we are in charge of actions and decisions when working together on a recipe. We plan ahead by selecting recipes and synergize to bring in all of the ingredients. When in class, we take turns and thinkin win win, listen to others, and make sure we are synergizing with our group so everyone gets a turn and gets to participate in making recipes. Last but not least, we sharpen the saw when we spend time eating our recipe with our friends or share it with others on campus.
Mad Science Each month, we study a famous scientist and discuss how his/her contributions helped shape our world. We also identify if he/she is considered a "leader" to our first graders and we list the habits he/she used and how they used these habits to accomplish their goals. For example, this month our scientist was Dr. Jonas Salk, and the little scientists said that he use "begin with the end in mind" to work hard to develop a vaccine to save children who were affected by the polio epidemic. Then, we conduce a fun short experiment by first observing Mrs. Maggart as she directs us on the steps. We predict what will occur. Finally, we are able to conduct the experiment by synergizing with a partner and following the directions. We are then able to closely observe the results.
Technology Club Students in the Technology Enrichment Club will use the 7 Habits to learn how to be a technology leader in their classroom. They will learn fun ways to use technology to achieve learning goals. The students will be exposed to Code and programs from Google (such as Gmail, Google Classroom, Google Docs, and Google Slides).
