Arts and Crafts Club Students participating in this club will sharpen their saws with seasonal craft activities.
Manners and Etiquette Manners and etiquette are some of life’s most important lessons. It’s exciting to see students who know how to speak, and share experiences with others of diverse backgrounds in a manner that demonstrates a sense of respect and understanding. During our enrichment classes, students have the opportunity to use proper table manners such as; knowing silver ware placement, which way to pass containers of food, and how to have positive social behavior interactions during special engagements and in everyday classroom situations. They will have fun learning how to hold informal conversations, as well as how to make eye contact when speaking with adults. Children need to have the opportunity to practice courtesy life skills, so that they are able to interact positively with their peers and family members.
Origami Origami teaches skills that are necessary and beneficial in every day living. Patience is something that we all need to learn. Each and every day, whether at school, at home or at a sporting event,Teravista Tigers can be proactive by practicing and modeling patience for our friends, our family members and our community.
Painting Club In our group, our students focuses on sharpening the saw and use art as a way to relax by feeding their body, heart, and souls. Each session, we discover and identify an artist and the technique that he or she uses in their pieces of work. Then, our group members begin with the end in mind by creating a plan to create a piece of art using that same style or technique. Finally, we synergize together to come up with ideas that they want to focus on for our next session and generate ideas of future masterpieces to create!
Yoga Leaders The Yoga Club has 22 second grade students who are learning how to be leaders by practicing various yoga disciplines. Through a series of asanas (poses) as well as different breathing & relaxing techniques, each young “yogi” learns how to stay healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally. Physically, they learn how to maintain their strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness. Mentally, they learn how to expand their concentration, attention span, comprehension, and memory. Emotionally they learn how to balance their emotions and express themselves in a healthy way. On a larger scale, the students learn about community and connectedness not only within the classroom, but outside of it as well. Their aim is to build their confidence and self-esteem, as well as their sense of respect and compassion, so that they can become leaders not only for themselves, but for their world around them.
