Board Games Board games and chess leadership group will provide leadership opportunities for students to teach their board game in a leader position. They will begin with the end in mind before sharing/teaching their board game. This group will provide a safe environment for students to create and test strategies, as well as work in a group to synergize the rules of the game. This can be valuable practice for real-world situations by helping students understand how to make decisions quickly while also paying attention to the moves their opponents are making!
Drama Leaders 4th grade students will synergize to prepare and perform a theatrical event. Students will develop their speaking and presentation skills and collaborate on prop and set design. The group will begin with the end in mind by selecting a play and planning for an audience. Our leaders will use habit 8 and find their voice, overcoming fears to perform in front of an audience.
Legos Lego Leaders in 4th grade will build Lego sets or free build while focusing on the following habits: Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind: We need to know what we are going to build before we start building. We can always change and modify what we build, but we need a plan first. Habit 4: Think Win Win: We need to share the Lego pieces and see if we can change the piece we are using so a friend can use the piece we are using. Habit 5: Seek First to Understand then to be Understood: We will work together and try to understand what pieces and how we can help our friends. Habit 6: Synergize: We will work together to build our masterpieces Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw: We will have fun!
Science & Nature In science enrichment, students will synergize to conduct scientific experiments and participate in design challenges. Students begin with the end in mind by making predictions and put first things first when using many different kinds of materials and tools, change variables, and collect data in order to explore the world around us.
Sketching and Drawing Through learning to sketch and draw, we practice the 8th Habit. The eighth habit is "Find your voice and inspire others to find theirs." Voice is Covey's code for "unique personal significance." Those who inspire others to find theirs are the leaders needed now and for the future, according to Covey.
In 4th grade enrichment group, Art: Sketching and Drawing we use our talent to strengthen our spirit and center our soul. Our creative mind is exercised and allowed to problem solve preparing us to excel in win-win situations. We learn to share our talents and lead others to learn and develop their talents. Through sketching and drawing we learn to add beauty to our world, creating a calm and peaceful environment to live and grow. We also learn to develop our unique personal significance in society by finding where we can contribute our talents.
World Languages, Crafts & Cultures The student leaders in this group will be learning about different languages and cultures from around the world through arts and crafts. We will Sharpen Our Saws by allowing our creative juices to flow and Beginning Proactive and Beginning with the End in mind by designing and completing various actives that reflect what they are learning about these various cultures.
