Crafting We will be sharpening the saw by growing in one area that we love.. We will also be incorporating other 7 habits into our time such as Synergize by working together as a club. We will begin with the end in mind by planning out what we need and the steps to take in order to complete our crafts.
Manners Plus Cooking Manners and etiquette are some of the most important life lessons. It’s exciting to see students who know how to speak, and share experiences with others in a manner that demonstrates a sense of respect and understanding towards their peers. During our enrichment classes, students participate in using proper table manners such as; knowing silver ware placement, which way to pass containers of food, and how to have positive social behavior interactions during special engagements and in everyday classroom situations. They will have fun learning how to hold informal conversations, as well as learn how to make eye contact when interacting with others. Children should practice kindness and courtesy life skills, so that they are able to interact positively with their peers, family and members of society. Our last 3 meetings will include cooking classes for special family get-togethers. We are a Leader in Me School, and learning the rules of proper etiquette procedures helps support the goal and vision of “The Leader In Me” with the “Begin with the End in Mind” philosophy.
Origami In Origami Club, students use Habit #1, Be Proactive, and Habit #5, Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood. Origami requires a great amount of patience, as students problem solve ways to recreate through folding paper. To be successful, the student must watch closely and listen carefully to specific instructions and then carry them out with neatness and accuracy. For many students, it generates a patience that leads to pride in their work, the ability to focus energy, and increased self-esteem.
Painting In Painting Club, we will be sharpening the saw and letting our creative side shine while creating beautiful pieces of artwork. We will be focusing on using habit #2 as we have to plan and sketch out our artwork and then paint it in a unique way. Our club is all about trying new things, thinking outside the box, and showing how each one of us has unique talents that can be shown in many different ways.
Puzzles Students will be synergizing in groups of 3 or 4 to put together a puzzle. . They will be using Habit #2, Begin with the End in Mind, to set up a plan to accomplish their goal in the most effective and efficient manner.
Run Club The Fitness Enrichment group will synergize to become stronger and healthier runners. We will be positive examples to others as we work hard and encourage each other to do our very best. Beginning with the end in mind, we will run the track and work on building stamina toward the Pay It Forward 5K in December as well as a lap-a-thon to support a great cause in our community this spring.
Technology In technology club, we will use habit #2 as we begin with the end in mind to learn new technology skills. By seeking first to understand, students created a group list of the skills that they would like to learn. We will start the year off with coding. Our group will synergize as we work together to sharpen our saw!
