Kindness Club Wouldn't the world be a better place if each person would take 2 seconds to think of others? Well, in Kindness Club we focus on ways to spread kindness throughout our school, at home, and our surrounding community. Our club synergizes together to come up with simple random acts of kindness that fills everyone's emotional buckets and hearts.

Reader's Theater “To thine own self be true” - So it is with our 2nd Grade Reader’s Theater Enrichment group, as they lively prepare to share their creative abilities to audiences through the art of storytelling. During our rehearsals, their self-confidence grows; intonation, inflection flows, and the reading process becomes as natural as breathing to our performers! My goal is for our students to read with a desire to find the life source of a piece of literature, and eventually verbally share the nuance of phrasing that reflects an author’s inner thoughts; which could not be contained by the conformity of a writing instrument, nor by the uncertainty of a reluctant reader. However, in order for our troupe to immerse themselves together successfully in the storytelling process, we follow the guidelines of Habit 5“Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood”, because the process of learning how to work together requires a commitment to respect and have concern for the thoughts and feelings of others.
Spanish This group is made up of 17 second grade students who are eager to put Habit 5 into action: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Besides learning and practicing basic words and phrases in Spanish, they are seeking to understand by learning how to see things from other points of view. They are focusing on Mexican culture by studying some of the major holidays celebrated in Mexico and comparing and contrasting them to similar holidays celebrated in the United States.
Yoga Leaders The Yoga Club has 22 second grade students who are learning how to be leaders by practicing various yoga disciplines. Through a series of asanas (poses) as well as different breathing & relaxing techniques, each young “yogi” learns how to stay healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally. Physically, they learn how to maintain their strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness. Mentally, they learn how to expand their concentration, attention span, comprehension, and memory. Emotionally they learn how to balance their emotions and express themselves in a healthy way. On a larger scale, the students learn about community and connectedness not only within the classroom, but outside of it as well. Their aim is to build their confidence and self-esteem, as well as their sense of respect and compassion, so that they can become leaders not only for themselves, but for their world around them.
