Book Lover's Books are essential to a growing mind. There is a whole world out there to experience and using a book to dig deeper in our understanding of our world can help grow our mindsets and grow as a leader.
In these books we will explore how characters use the 7 habits such as being proactive (taking charge and doing what is right-even if no one is looking - Book: Spookley the Square Pumpkin who takes charge and helps his friends). We will explore characters who begin with the end in mind to reach a goal (Book: Making a Splash and seeing how when we give our best effort and practice we can get better) We will also see how when characters synergize we can learn how to synergize too. (Book: Swimmy)
These are just a few examples where our club will dig deeper to better understand our characters and the reasons for their actions to help them become better versions of themselves. They will learn how to grow their mindset and be strong leaders. Following each reading, we will have discussion questions and the students will participate in a fun craft activity relating to the character they read about.
The students will walk away with important leadership strategies to go and lead others by example.
Cooking In cooking club, we begin with a story that connects with a habit and discuss. We then making a cooking connection with the story. For example, we read The Very Busy Spider and talked about how the Spider was proactive. Then we created an edible Spider with chocolate and marshmallows. When we cook, we begin with the end in mind as we follow our recipe. Thrn we enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Creation Station During creation station, students will begin with the end in mind and synergize to build and create unique structures!
Gardening In the gardening club students will be setting goals and making a plan of how we can beautify the campus with plants and maintain the flower beds to make them more aesthetically pleasing to the people visiting our school. Students will synergize to accomplish their goals and will love the feeling they get when they see their hard work pay off.
