Art During our club, our students are given the opportunity to think outside the traditional box and show their creativity in creating masterpieces in different art form. Our students are able to share their creative interests and showcase their unique talents. Each time we meet, we synergize with other students to create an art piece of their choice and really strive to focus on listening to each other to make their artwork the best it can be.
Building/Engineering Second graders use several habits to build a project each meeting. We begin with the endin mind as we develop a plan on what we want our creation to look like when we are finished. We synergize as we work together in building and creating our projects. As we work together we have to seek first to understand when there are disagreements and come up with a win-win for the situation.
Science/NatureOur Science Club program is designed to assist students to critically think, classify, and experiment using hands on activities that engage them in the scientific processes of life, earth, and physical science concepts. During our first enrichment club meeting, the students shared what types of subjects they wanted to learn about. Since then, they apply the Principles of Habit #1, “Be Proactive”- work together as a team, build community and investigate the world around them, while using scientific methods and tools to explore, observe and document their scientific research.
Technology In Technology Club, students use Habit 2, Begin with the End in Mind, as they plan for future careers. Coding can improve skills like perseverance and problem solving. It is also beneficial for growth in reading (sequencing/cause and effect) and math (visualizing abstract concepts). Coding gives students empowerment, fosters their courage to try new things, and embraces their creativity.
